Adriana Lima is a SuperModel that can attribute her exotic good looks to her French, Portuguese, Native-American, and Caribbean heritage. At the age of 13, she was placed second in the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest. Three years later, she headed to New York, and signed with Elite Model Management. Once there, her modeling portfolio began to expand. Adriana Lima appeared in Vogue (Italy) in 1997 and 1998, Vogue (UK) inn 1997, I-D (UK), Marie Claire (Brazil). She has walked down the runway for the following designers: Cynthia Rowley, Vera Wang, Christian Lacroix, Emanuel Ungaro, Betsey Johnson, Girls Rule, Richard Tyler, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, and Valentino.
One of her most notable catwalk appearances was in the Victoria's Secret summer 2000 swimwear catalog (shot in Cannes). She also appeared in ads for Anna Sui Jeans, bebe, Gasoline, Mossimo, Guess?, and XOXO, and in the network television's Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2001 and 2003. She also appeared in the film, The Hire: The Follow, (2001), starring Mickey Rourke. In 2002, Adriana Lima was engaged to musician Lenny Kravitz, but they never got married. She appeared in his music video Yesterday Is Gone. In 2004, she appeared in a Victoria's Secret ad, co-starring musician Bob Dylan, in which she's walking around Venice in nothing but lingerie, heels and a pair of wings (Victoria's Secret's "Angels" collection). |
