Akira Lane's mother is Okinawan, and her father is Hawaiian, and she is an only child. She attended American schools in the Japanese isles. At age 18, Akira Lane moved to Norfolk, Virginia, where she attend Old Dominion University. During a spring break holliday in San Diego, Akira fell in love with the West Coast, and a few months later she moved to there. She attended San Diego State University for two years and received a bachelor in International Business.
She moved to Orange County, where she got an employment in the hi-tech sector and she quickly moved up within the company. Akira Lane started a website: akiralane.com, where she revealed photos of herself, soon she was traveling to shows across the country. Her website was so successful that Akira was named the "2001 Web Model of the Year", and she also took home the "Glamour Elite Site" award. She has also appeared in several of the Playboy channel's movies, including Naughty Amateur, Coed Carwash and Weekend Flash. In 2003, Akira Lane starred in the naughty movie Maximum Thrust, and she appeared in calendars for "Women of the East and Erebuni".
