Britney Spears always liked to preform, and she sang with the choir in her local church. At the age of 8, she auditioned for the popular children's variety show, The New Mickey Mouse Club, but was refused because of her young age. Britney spent the next three years studying at the Professional Performing Arts School, and also appeared in several television commercials and off-Broadway plays. In 1993 Britney Spears went back to the The New Mickey Mouse Club and at the age of 11 she became a Mickey clubber. After two years of living in Orlando with her family while doing the show, Britney moved back home to Kentwood after the show was canceled and returned to high school. Hit me baby one more time was 16 year old Britney Spears first hit. The album was no 1 on the Billboard charts, was certified RIAA 12 times platinum, and won awards such as the 1999 MTV Europe Awards for "Best Female Artist", "Best Pop Artist" and "Best Breakthrough Artist". In 2000, Britney released her follow-up album, entitled Oops!...I Did It Again. In 2002, she feature-film debut, Crossroads, hit movie theaters, but its commercial performance was somewhat disappointing. Also in 2002, Britney Spears and musician Justin Timberlake broke up. A couple of months before the release of her fourth album, In The Zone, Britney shocked the audiences at the VMAs. She sang a remixed rendition of Madonna's Like A Virgin and Hollywood. With help from Christina Aguilera and dressed like a combination of a bride and a prostitute, Britney kissed Madonna in one of the most memorable, and scandalous, moments of the year. Britney Spears married Kevin Federline September 18, 2004. It was a small and private ceremony in California. The couple went to Turtle Island in Fiji for their honeymoon. On september 14, 2005, Britney gave birth to a baby boy, Preston Michael Spears Federline, at UCLA medical center in Santa Monica, California. She delivered via Caesarian section with Kevin Federline by her side. On September 12, 2006, she gave birth to their second son, Jayden James Federline, again by a scheduled caesarean section. On November 7, 2006, Britney Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline. Single again, she started going to night clubs with Paris Hilton, sometimes without underwear! In 2007 she shaved her hair and went to rehab. |
