Cameron Diaz is of Cuban/American and German heritage. She left home at 16 and toured the world modeling for five years, and her successful career took her to Australia, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, and Paris. She returned to California when she turned 21, when she auditioned for a big part in the blockbuster action-comedy The Mask(1994), starring famous actor Jim Carrey, were she was cast as the female lead, Tina Carlyle, in the movie. Three years after that, while training to star in the live-action film version of the popular martial arts video game Mortal Kombat, Cameron sustained a wrist injury, which caused her to back out of the movie. Instead, she made a string of smaller, independent movies as Feeling Minnesota (1996) co-starring Keanu Reeves, and She's the One co-starring Ed Burns and Jennifer Aniston.
In 1997 Cameron Diaz returned to main stream movies in the film My Best Friend's Wedding. She earned star status in 1998 for her performance in the box office smash hit There's Something About Mary (1998). In 2000, she starred alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu as one of the three female detectives in Charlie's Angels. She can also be seen in the movies In Her Shoes (2005), The Holiday (2006) and as the voice of Princess Fiona in the cartoon movie Shrek. Cameron Diaz is dating singer Justin Timberlake. She was ranked #19 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2007 list.
