Jennifer Aniston original last name was Anastassakis, but her family changed it when they moved from Greece to the U.S. Jennifer's father is John Aniston, who starred as Victor Kiriakis on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives, and her mother is Nancy Dow, an actress and model. Jennifer lived in Greece with her family as a child, but her parents divorced and Jennifer was forced to live with her mother in New York City as of age 9. She was a member of a drama club i high school, which sparked her decision to pursue a career as an actress. Jennifer has also always been passionate about painting; one of her creations was even displayed in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art when she was 11. In 1987 she graduated from New York's High School of Performing Arts, the Fame school. In 1989, after moving to Hollywood, she landed her first television role as a regular on Molloy.
Then the pilot for a new NBC show called Friends came along in 1994 and Jennifer Aniston auditioned for the sitcom Friends. The producers of the show originally wanted Jennifer to audition for the role of neurotic chef "Monica Gellar". But Jennifer felt she was more of a "Rachel Green". She appeared in the pilot, which was called Friends Like Us, as a runaway bride. At the same time she was also starring in a show called Muddling Through. The sitcom Friends became a huge hit and the six cast members became TV's hottest stars. She returned to the big screen in 2001, as Mark Wahlberg's loyal girlfriend in the film Rock Star. The following year, she appeared as an unfaithful wife in the independent flick, The Good Girl. Jennifer received Best Actress nominations from the Independent Spirit Awards and the Golden Satellite Awards for her role in this film. In 2003, Aniston starred in Bruce Almighty, opposit Jim Carrey. She also topped Forbes magazine's "Celebrity 100" list of the world's most powerful celebrities, beating out Jennifer Lopez and Brad Pit. Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt separated on January 7, 2005, after 4 1/2 years of marriage. In the summer of 2005, Jennifer met actor Vince Vaughn while filming The Break Up and they officially started dating in October that same year. Vince moved in to Jennifers Malibu home shortly after.
