Shanna Moakler was born in Providence, Rhode Island and went to Barrington High School in Barrington, Rhode Island. After graduation she began modeling in Miami, and at the age of 18, she was the first runner-up (as Miss New York) at Miss USA 1995. A few months later, Chelsi Smith (the winner of Miss USA) won the Miss Universe crown and thus turned over her USA title to Shanna Moakler. In 1997 she landed her first role in Friends 'Til the End starring Shannon Doherty. At that time she started dating boxer Oscar De La Hoya and they had a daughter together; Atiana, born March 29th, 1999. Shanna Moakler appeared in The Wedding Singer starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. She also starred in the television series Pacific Blue.
In December 2000, she filed a $62.5 million palimony suit against ex-fiance Oscar De La Hoya. She claimed that he was an abusive alcoholic to her and to their daughter. Shanna Moakler was Playboy Playmate of the Month for December 2001. On October 2004, Shanna Moakler married Travis Barker from the band Blink-182. The couple have their own reality show on MTV called Meet the Barkers. The couple have one son together, Landon Barker (born October 9, 2003) and on December 24, 2005, they welcomed their second child, a girl named Alabama Luella. |
